Insights: New custom colours and buttons in EFOS Training

New Custom colours and buttons in EFOS Training

Welcome to the first of our EFOS Insights series! Our Insights will keep you updated on some of the latest developments across our EFOS suite of products, so when there’s a great new feature, you will be able to read about it here.

Our first Insight focuses on our custom colour palettes, icons and buttons that are a new feature within EFOS Training, available for use in both web and iPad application.

Developed in conjunction with our clients, this feature helps training teams ensure that the colours and icons used throughout EFOS aid both trainers and candidates when it comes to grading, recognition, data inputting and also training feedback, through a selection of options that add to the overall experience for EFOS users.

The custom colours and buttons can also be used to ensure that EFOS is closely aligned to the airline brand, instantly bringing it inline with other core platforms used across teams, AOCs and ATOs – a must for all airlines working to standardise their training.

What’s included in this new feature?

It’s now possible to change the colour, action and icons used throughout EFOS Training. This is something we can do for you, so you don’t need to make the changes yourself.

This is how the standard design looks in our EFOS Training iPad app.

What are the benefits of this feature?

Overall, this feature aims to improve the user interface of EFOS Training, delivering a more intuitive experience for your trainers and trainees using the system.

With the aviation industry moving more towards Evidence-Based Training (EBT) and Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA), trainers are now required to log much more information — especially when awarding the lowest or highest grades. So it’s important that we also evolve EFOS Training, to ensure it remains simple, quick and easy to use.

Here are some reasons why customising your buttons could help, but you might think of others:

  • Tailor the design with your users needs — The colours, icons and response used for buttons can make a big difference to usability for a number of reasons, so it makes sense to adjust these to suit your audience and the context. You could test what your employees find more intuitive, accessible, and even more motivating.

Maybe the classic red, amber, green grading is too simplistic for the information your trainers want to record, and perhaps five shades of green would work better. Or certain icons convey what a button does more clearly than others, which could make a big difference when it comes to entering information.
  • Align the button design with your other internal systems — Good design is often about consistency. If your users are already familiar with certain button colours and icons from other key software, changing the buttons in EFOS Training to match these might improve usability.
  • Adjust the colours to match your branding and corporate palette — this one is more about company preference. We all know the importance of a consistent brand these days.

Before EFOS

Air Malta was struggling with a leave management process that was highly complex and labour intensive. Each leave request had to be processed manually, which meant pilots and cabin crew were forced to wait a long time to get confirmation of their leave.

After EFOS

EFOS Leave replicated the airline’s custom validation rules in the new digital platform. This made the transition smoother, as these rules were already accepted by both union representatives and crew members.

What they said

“The project was delivered very swiftly, enabling Air Malta’s team to quickly realise the benefits of the new software. The team at Evoke were committed and totally onboard for this project. The system was easy to understand, and help was always found along the project.”
