Reflecting on EATS 2024

Evoke attend EATS 2024

Last week, the Evoke team jetted off to sunny Cascais, Portugal for Halldale’s European Airline Training Symposium (EATS) – Europe’s largest aviation training event!

Fuelled by coffee and curiosity, our three-day excursion was a fantastic opportunity to connect with experts, gain valuable industry insights, and proudly showcase our latest product developments.

At the exhibition stand

Amid the bustling expo floor, team members James and Collen could be found at our booth. They were kept busy presenting live demos and connecting with attendees eager to learn more about our products.

Collen, attending EATS for the first time, said, “It was a pleasure to meet people from different airlines and put faces to our existing customers.”

What was showcased?

The team demoed EFOS Training, the training management system designed to centralise and automate training delivery across all departments. The response was overwhelming. It was great to see so many attendees excited about how EFOS Training could streamline their training delivery.

The latest EFOS Training iPad app caught plenty of attention, but it was the highly anticipated EFOS Training mobile phone app that really created a buzz. Attendees had an exclusive peek at the future of EFOS, intrigued by the promise of improved mobile workflow efficiencies. More is yet to be revealed soon, so stay tuned!

Two days of insights

Away from the hustle of the booth, the rest of the team were busy networking and absorbing valuable insights from the talks.

Opening doors in the industry

A key highlight was the Women in Aviation Training session, which emphasised the need for greater inclusivity and family-friendly practices in the industry. The overall event also saw a step forward in inclusivity, with the introduction of a brand-new maintenance conference stream this year. Chief Operating Officer at Evoke, Melissa Mitchell, reflected on this:

It was fantastic to see EATS evolve this year with the inclusion of a dedicated maintenance program. At Evoke, we’re committed to supporting all departments, including engineering, and it’s encouraging to see more emphasis on maintenance as a part of the broader training landscape.

Fostering innovation

The focus on development extended further, with engaging discussions around the evolving role of technology, especially AI, in shaping the future of aviation training. Naturally, AI adoption in operational areas such as training must follow detailed investigation and acceptance rollout plans, but this year at EATS, it seemed to be the topic everyone was eager to understand further. Chief Executive Officer at Evoke, Craig Howard, notes:

The anticipation of AI's introduction into the training domain is gaining momentum. At EATS this year, I've had many discussions with speakers, industry colleagues and our valued customers. We're beginning to explore the efficiencies and intelligence that AI can bring to our platform, while maintaining a strong focus on the business case and value needed to support these projects.

Until next time

As the event wrapped up and the banners were packed away, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the chance to connect with so many of our valued customers – and make plenty of new connections along the way. We’re heading home with much lighter suitcases after our free jellybeans, pens and stress cubes were such a hit, though we might be in trouble with our team members at home who didn’t get one!

If you missed us at EATS and want to learn more about EFOS Training, book a demo or get in contact with us. For now, though, goodbye Portugal and hello rainy England. Until next time, EATS.

Product implemented

Before EFOS

Air Malta was struggling with a leave management process that was highly complex and labour intensive. Each leave request had to be processed manually, which meant pilots and cabin crew were forced to wait a long time to get confirmation of their leave.

After EFOS

EFOS Leave replicated the airline’s custom validation rules in the new digital platform. This made the transition smoother, as these rules were already accepted by both union representatives and crew members.

What they said

“The project was delivered very swiftly, enabling Air Malta’s team to quickly realise the benefits of the new software. The team at Evoke were committed and totally onboard for this project. The system was easy to understand, and help was always found along the project.”
