The challenge was to not only replace the existing entirely manual leave system currently used but also to help the airline migrate to a brand-new points-based prioritisation system. To accomplish this involved implementing the existing airline’s core leave validation rules and then expanding upon them to enable a deterministic, fair and transparent points-based system to be layered on top.
Using our wealth of experience Evoke were able to work closely with the existing leave and rostering team, guiding them through the transition process, whilst making sure the crew were fully subscribed to the changes. The newly expanded leave validation rules provided a like-for-like replacement of what had previously existed whilst also enabling the accumulation of points with each successful request the value of which was fair, logical and clearly described for the crew to understand.
A staging site for the Airline to test the system was set up well in advance of the first bidding period deadline and any issues were fixed. Training then took place both face to face and via demos to make sure all stakeholders were happy with the new system before the agreed go live date.
Complex rules involving working with Unions were captured.
Once the initial information gathering and design meetings had been completed on-site, the project involved the deterministic rule implementation and custom user interface construction required to enable the crew to add the additional airline specific information used by the existing prioritised process.
